AT&T has begun changing its upgrade eligibility dates for some iPhone customers to June 21st, according to a MobileCrunch report.
This morning they received a report from a reader:
"Not sure if anyone [..] has noticed this same thing, but my Upgrade Eligibility date on my AT&T account switched from 11/21 to 6/21 in the last day or so. I bought a 3GS on launch day last year, and my upgrade date read 11/21 since then. A few other folks in my office have noticed the same changes happening to their accounts as well."
It's unclear if this is an unintentional leak or if AT&T is slowly rolling out the changes across their database.
Apple is widely expected to announce and possibly ship the iPhone in June. The company announced previous models at WWDC; although, a rumor earlier this month suggested that Apple has booked June 22nd at the Yerba Buena Center for Arts by the Moscone Center in San Francisco
We had 6 AT&T account and the information on this thread was not accurated. the date show discount upgraded for new device is depend one lenght of the account open, and when was last upgraded or open. every single account will have different date. one of my account has it on 22nd June. Other Jun 7. 1 November 11, one Jan 2011. this isn't first time I saw it. It was there about 4 month ago when, one of our Iphone broke due to water damage. I tried see if I can get another one at discount price. the answeer are no.
Last year when 3GS released for preorder... I did tried to Preorder thruoght AT&T and it show my upgrade discount price on 9/21/2009. So AT&T did charge me full price for the phone. End up I preorder directly from Apple and I got discounted price even my contract was only 10 months old.
But this Upgrade program means that we can buy the new iPhone 4G at discounted price if we have a 3GS? I also bought it a year ago when it was released!
You can take advantage of our no commitment pricing. Our records indicate that you will be eligible for an upgrade at a discounted price on 09/05/2010
my contract end date was 1/4/11 it changed to this
"we can offer you a discounted iPhone upgrade at a higher price, along with a 2-year commitment and an $18 upgrade fee"
appalling language. What does it mean?
discounted...at a higher price, what?
Basically what it means is you get the iphone upgrade but you only get a $200 discount versus the full $400 off of the full retail meaning a higher upgrade price.
iPhone 3g 8GB $499 - upgrade price $99 - early upgrade $299
iPhone 3GS 16GB $599 - upgrade price $199 - early upgrade $399
iPhone 3GS 32GB $699 - upgrade price $299 - early upgrade $499
hope this helps.
Thanks for explaining what they meant by higher price. So what they should have said was some people who have had their upgrade date moved up can upgrade, but will pay more for the phone than people with an upgrade on the original schedule? I thought the language in the AT&T info was confusing.
What they mean is some people will have to pay a premium above the regular upgrade price, right?
