SHAPE Services has announced the release of Business Card Reader for iPhone.

Business Card Reader makes a "scan" of a business card with the photo camera of iPhone 3GS then it "reads" business card information using revolutionary OCR technology and inserts complete and accurate contact details into the appropriate fields of the iPhone address book. Text recognition is processed completely on the iPhone and does not require data connection. After contact recognition users can search LinkedIn public directory and read the LinkedIn profile in a built-in browser without leaving the application.

Business Card Reader utilizes a technology from ABBYY, which is an industry leader in text recognition.
