iOS 7 Wins Mobile OS User Experience Shootout [Charts]

iOS 7 Wins Mobile OS User Experience Shootout [Charts]

Pfeiffer Consulting has compared the leading mobile operating systems and determined that iOS 7 wins for Overall User Experience.

Here's what they had to say about each operating system...

iOS 7: 73.25
Apple has achieved its goal to move iOS into the modern smartphone era. Despite some controversial design aspects, iOS 7 is pleasant and more fluid to use than other mobile operating systems—and it does not look like any competing system on the market. It will be interesting what the longterm impact of iOS7 will be—in any case, market penetration is likely to be significantly faster than that of any other new mobile operating system.

iOS 6: 70
iOS 6 is still the simplest mobile operating system, especially for very inexperienced users, but that simplicity comes at the price of efficiency and integration features that the operating system lacks. In the context of smartphone use, the absence of these features is a handicap, since, unlike tablets, smartphones rely much more on tight integration of repeatedly used key apps and services.

Android (Samsung): 57.25
Android has come a long way in terms of user experience, and could easily become an iOS killer not only in terms of market-share, but in terms of user experience—provided that Google and Samsung truly understood where the user experience differences with Apple’s platform lie. As it stands, Samsung’s Android is very usable - but undermines the overall user experience through odd design decisions, disproportionate cognitive
load and half-baked innovations that are a distraction rather than a help.

Blackberry 10: 56.37
Blackberry 10 has a lot of promise—the basic idea behind the Blackberry Hub is a clever take on the notifications feature in iOS and Android—but the operating system is hampered by inconsistencies, unexpected behaviors and user experience friction that
make it frustrating to use.

Windows Phone 8: 47.25
In its current state, Windows Phone 8 is a strange mixture of slick, original design—and a surprising disregard for key usability, not to mention the lack of some key user experience features such as customization options, pervasive notifications, or quick access to key settings. It is highly likely that some of these features will pop up in future software upgrades, but as of today, Windows Phone 8 is not very competitive in terms of overall user experience.

I just had a glance, but did it say in the Cognitive Load chart that a default Android (Samsung) install comes with 104 apps and widgets?! With all the apps I use on my iPhone on a daily basis, I have a grand total of 41 apps. Why would I want to sort through 100+ apps on a default install?

I once had the same thing years ago, some apps are just the same, just why so many that's not necessary (back then it was just a tab my dad won but he didn't really want it but it's all I had to play angry birds on, own an iPad since August)!

The cognitive load chart is shit, the post showing iPhone with the fastest touch screen response said it was faster than any other, why does it show Samsung full as fck across the chart?

You won't see a jailbreak till after all new devices are released ( iPad 5, and iPad mini 2 ) only then start waiting for a jailbreak, probably a few month after the holidays.

Apparently you can't read, cause if you could you would notice than in terms of efficiency they are both at 7/10. Why would you want efficiency when you can't even read?

Apparently you can't read... It's in terms of percentage out of 100, not 10. And i prefer iOS6, which is why I have not upgraded. Furthermore, in terms of grading, when nothing reaches 100, you take the highest mark and then turn it into a grading curve, make the 73 grade, the 100. Maybe if you paid attention in school, and read more, you'd understand the way grading curves work. In any case, both iOS's are at the top. Go back to your candy shop sir, maybe the sugar high will help.

Dude...read 3° chart "efficiency and integration" before you speak another word. The whole grade is 100, the 7/10 they got is for EFFICIENCY RATING ONLY...please again...before saying anything else try and read first.

As long as we are being nitpicky (which is why you replied to my first comment anyways), it says Efficeincy and Integration, which coincidentally I never stated. My implication was with overall experience, but I can admittedly say I erroneously put effeceincy, but in any case, you can proceed to beat a dead horse. So you please go back and read, and maybe comprehend a little. Why don't you find and/or create and Android based site or forum where you all can praise it rather than come onto an Apple fan site and bash around out of envy. I'm mature enough to leave out the name calling, and call it what it is. You like the Samsung/Android combo, that's fine, just go to a dedicated site to leave your rants. Oh wait, don't have one? In any case, you hold no water, because I never stated efficeincy and integration, just merely efficeincy when I meant experience.
