MG Siegler, a venture capitalist and writer for TechCrunch, says that Apple will release new Apple TV hardware next month.
Earlier today, Siegler tweeted:
I guess those excited about a software refresh in a week are gonna be *really* excited when new Apple TV hardware is unveiled next month.
His tweet follows a report from AllThingsD that says new Apple TV software is coming September 18th.
9to5Mac also corroborated reports of new hardware.
We’ve independently heard of Apple working on both a full-fledged TV set and a revamped set-top-box that is similar in form-factor to the current model. But no matter the hardware design, we have been consistently hearing from our sources that Apple is thoroughly testing Xbox Kinect-like motion sensors for future TV-related products. When Apple plans to release motion-controlled TVs, however, is uncertain.
Siegler has previously mentioned that "the interaction with it could be the interesting thing".

The problem with apple Tv,any one can own an Apple TV.
for $99 is priceless .The problem IS IT GOING TO BE JAILBROKEN?
Thats the reason I didnt buy the 3rd Gen,,that's why I paid $900 for 3 apple TVs2 in my house.
increase its price to $200 have open jailbreak I will buy 4 of them.
You guys are like a broken record: Jailbreak, Jailbreak, Jailbreak... if you want to hack stuff, get a PC. If you want a product that works just fine out of the box (and doesn't need to be hacked to function well) then go ahead an enjoy Apple products like the rest of the world.
Hopefully it will have more capabilities than the crippled 'app' selections available. HBO subscription without cable, and many more like it. MLB season pass for one specific team.
hopefully will get an Apple TV with play station games (Apps) that will make all the difference in the world and apple will take over the smart TV's from Samsung.
