Nickolay Lamm and Matteo Gianni have created a concept for a low-cost iPhone based on rumors of a translucent plastic chassis.
Earlier this year, DigiTimes reported that rumors are circulating that the entry-level iPhone will adopt a chassis mixed with plastic and metal, with the internal metal parts being able to be seen from outside through special design, the sources noted.
The concept seen below takes cues from the iMac G3.
"The reason the iMac was made transparent was to make it seem less alien to consumers. Before the iMac, computers were all in a box shape and in gray color. The ability to see inside the computer made the device seem less mysterious and much more personal."
this is stupid. they should stop making a new look to it. this should be the final one. The phones are just gunna get bigger and bigger. if there is any problems, they should be able to make a new one with the same features and fix any problems.
I'll pass. Not because l'm an Apple fan turned Android one but because you got to do better than a see through case. If I want something that is low cost and capable as an iphone 5 I'll wait for the US Polytron phone to come out later this year. True innovation that Apple should have come up with.
lol - the iMac rebirth - wow is this jony ives idea - the major issue with this idea is it invites people and offers thinking that the back case can open and be removed i.e.. to insert a sim... yet i am sure Apple will not wish it to be this way.
its cool looking... dont mind getting one like this coz it seems refreshing to own one and is much more cheaper... anyway to those ppl who hate this, WHATS THE POINT OF GETTING PROTECTION CASE IF THE PREVIOUS EXPENSIVE MODELS DOESNT NEED THEM??? LMAO!!!
well the high end iphone 5 is 1) an expensive 700.00 phone 2) aluminum is a rather soft metal - it dents and scuffs fairly easy --- so protecting your purchase is a good idea ---- as for these conceptual plastic translucent back phones phones - yeah its reminiscent of the Bondi Blue iMac, "it comes in colours... like a rainbow" all-in-one iMac... i like it - yes so long as the price of the phone is greatly reduced and Apple sells a sh_t load... i am sure it will - and for those who grow to love this lower costing phone -- one day they might up their next purchase to iPhone pro
Hey guys I think this looks great but we arent sure if apple will actually be releasing a low end iphone this does look a little bit cheap if we are comparing this to latest iphone but overall I think it would be a great idea to have a cheaper iphone.
i think you are wrong - apple truly likes to please the customer - for Apple to make an array OF options a 8gb / 16gb / 32gb / 64 gb and iPads 16 / 32 / 64 / 128 with or without cellular -- there are options already that make a cheaper device -- though a LARGER screen phone might be suitable for you and many others --- please wait for Apple to offer iPad mini with retina and telephone capabilities like iPhone... it will be the biggest phone on the market - the one and only device you need for daily outdoor usage.... the iPad mini phone.
Jokes..
Brings back the day when i had the see through House Phone (made in china),
It would light up inside with flashing HIDs, Ghetto now, but it was actually kinda cool back then.
Tha last time i saw something like this was when i looked at my ipod touch 5. Except you cannot see theough the back..... But the overall design is there though.....
i think iMac original is reminiscent of this design - a logical and clever lower costing appearance to iPhone -- which iMac original all-in-one was also -- a cheaper internet enabled Apple desktop.
agree - Apple needs offer this at about 1/3rd the price of iPhone 5 to sell well - 233 usd -- because the android crap offers 49.00 and 99.00 running locked os frodo 2.3.2 on their low end
