According to Jay Freeman in a recent report, the number of devices running Cydia in the past two months is tallied in at 22,780,029.
Freeman provides data on each device running Cydia, as noted in the chart below.
The article also talks about recent decline jailbreak popularity, as well as the history and future for jailbreaks.
Planetbeing, also known as David Wang, still believes that users will eventually see a jailbreak for the iPhone 5, especially with progress being made.
Always the same people arguing about what's best phone, IMHO use an OS you really love using. Been using iPhone since the 1st gen came out and now im on the iPhone 4.
That's what they said after iOS3 was released, then they said it again when iOS4 was released, then they said it again when iOS5 got released, yet here we are and the jailbreak community is still thriving. I guess the developers will just keep having to prove the naysayers like you wrong.
Thats what happens when you dont have a Jailbreak.
Not only Cydia is loosing money big time.
Also Apple is loosing many users to SamsungS3.
We used to have a jailbreak when Geohot was around to every update.
He does it over night.
Smart guy!.Those days are gone.
Many people have not bought an iPhone 5 because there is no jailbreak yet.
The same with Apple TV you get one for as low as $85 .On the other hand APPLETV2 goes over $300
I wouldnt trade my TV2 for 10 Apple3's.
An Iphone4S on ebay $500
I dont know why Apple what is their deal?
It adds more value to their products..People will buy more Devices if there is a jailbreak
I agree with you..., also, there are no more stable OS than iOS out there on the smartphone market, android is a complete glitch out the box.Beside iPhone 4s I also have new S3 and I know very well what that is. After iOS 6 jailbreak will come out, iPhone 5 will be added to this chart and it will be a way higher than iphone 4, period.
Hey look at the iPhone 5 Numbers, OUT of Site!.... Yes I have APPS I paid for and cant even get on the iPhone Now, Waiting for JB just to get iFile and iBuy back........
What are we supposed to divine from this chart? That there are more iPhone 4's than 4S's? So? If you just want to say "there are almost 23M jailbroken devices," then just say so. And tell us how this compares to a year ago, or something. Really, all in all, a pretty worthless article.
My desktop no longer recognizes my iPhone 5, although it runs fine, insisting I have to "restore it to factory reset" (meaning the newest version). Somehow I'm suspicious. I have NO desire to upgrade unless I get something out of it, and I RESENT being FORCED to simply because Apple chooses not to recognize it. That's Apple's new anti-JB approach, force users to upgrade with numerous minor upgrades so they can keep slipping in new JB roadblocks.
Interesting that you would bring this up. In the past couple of iphones that I've had, I had the same problem. Fortunately, the jailbreaks that were available, allowed me to continue jailbroken. But I was forced to upgrade through iTunes to the latest version.
No need to restore at all, this is f**king itunes, what I do if this shit happens, I create a new administrator account, install itunes (for this user only), connect my iphone, sync it, log off, login to my normal account, open itunes connect my device and everything is OK.
