Google and Samsung are partnering to produce a 10.1-inch tablet that will rival the iPad, reports CNET.
The tablet will have a display resolution of 2,560x1,600 and 299 PPI (pixels per inch). That's more pixels per inch than the iPad which has a 2,048x1536, 9.7-inch, 264 PPI display.
"It's going to be a high-end device," said Richard Shim, an analyst at NPD DisplaySearch -- in contrast with Google's $199 Nexus 7 and upcoming $99 tablet.
"They'll partner with Samsung and cobrand it with Samsung," Shim said.
Google partnered with Asus on the Nexus 7 tablet. No word on when this device might be available.
Hoping for a latest android update for any samsung tablet is like holding your breath under water forever. - they suck salty balls when it comes to this
It could have 600ppi density and I still won't buy it. If is made by Samsung, it will lack real quality, and if it's running android os it will freeze, crash and reboot constantly. They are going to need more than a better screen to rival apple.
Try using Jelly Bean, it's pretty amazing. Android has finally reached iOS levels of smoothness. It's really snappy. :)
I was using the iPhone since 2007 (I've had them all, from iPhone -> iPhone 4S) all the way till March of this year when I picked up a Galaxy S II, then in July, I grabbed a Galaxy S III and it's pretty damn good. (Yes, I know they come with ICS, but obviously I've hacked them and put Jelly Bean on them). But I'm currently running stock and it's pretty amazing. :)
