iPhone 5: 4G LTE vs. 3G Speed Test [Video]

Posted September 22, 2012 at 3:12am by iClarified
Here's a video comparison of iPhone 5 cellular network speeds on 4G LTE and 3G.

The tests were performed on Bell Mobility. LTE was over double as fast on the upload and download.

Take a look below...

I just wish to report my experience with my iPhone 5 using LTE... I get speeds in the range of 50 Mbps download, and 15 Mbps upload. The Speedtest app allows you to choose a local server, which makes a huge difference for the sake of the app's real purpose... By default, it does not select a server nearest to you... You need to specify your location. Once that is done, I believe you'll see a huge increase in speed. Making this selection improves your results only for the speed test... Thank you for your efforts making this video... I just felt obligated to post my experience, which was so much faster. This speed may slow down once more users join the LTE network, but wow - it's awesome now. Peace out!

Oh? And why would I care about what kind of speeds German or Chinese people get? I'm just happy I live in a country with a decent phone system.

Obviously a bad area for the test video. You can find videos with the 3rd gen iPad in Toronto on Rogers or Bell with speed tests of 40+Mbps down without even full bars.

Really poor 4g Network in the video.Too bad, would have been nice to have tested it in our Swedish 4g Network where we get quite nice speed's ,but as well known for us here in Sweden they skipped our freq. In the iPhone 5.Too small market = not enough profit .....I guess.

Bell is terribly slow. I would recommend complaining. But it won't do anything.

I get around 7-10Mbps down and 3-5Mbps up on AT&T 4G HSPA+ and 15-20Mbps down and close to the same up on 4G LTE with the iPhone 5. All on my unlimited plan w/ 5GB full power for 3GB price. :D

I'm in Sweden too, and I also get around 25Mbps up and down, on my old iPhone 4, which is obviously using the 3G network. I didn't know the U.S. networks run at the speed of third world countries.

bob53366 - September 24, 2012 at 9:23am
Well excuse the hell out of me, Varun. As far as I know Mr Bell was an American, so is it really so strange to assume that Bell is an American company? In regards to your claims about India. See, here's the thing; I never mentioned India. You did.

Tou gotta be kidding!? I get 25 down on 3G in Sweden.. I know America is a bigger area to cover but I didn't think the difference was this insane..
