Samsung Responds to Verdict: Apple's Win is a 'Loss for the American Consumer'

Posted August 25, 2012 at 1:04am by iClarified
Samsung has responded to a U.S. trial verdict which found the company guilty of copying the iPhone to the tune of $1.05 billion.

"Today's verdict should not be viewed as a win for Apple, but as a loss for the American consumer. It will lead to fewer choices, less innovation, and potentially higher prices. It is unfortunate that patent law can be manipulated to give one company a monopoly over rectangles with rounded corners, or technology that is being improved every day by Samsung and other companies. Consumers have the right to choices, and they know what they are buying when they purchase Samsung products. This is not the final word in this case or in battles being waged in courts and tribunals around the world, some of which have already rejected many of Apple's claims. Samsung will continue to innovate and offer choices for the consumer."

Apple will never see any kind of money from the Samsung court battle they use all Samsung parts in their iPhones and this is just a media stunt to hype up the pre-release of the iPhone 5!

...yeah, "American" companies like mApple, that hire so many to make their devices and things in ...oh wait...is this an "American" company?....let's c Samsung, the "Korean" company, they make their stuff in Kor...wait, in the US?...so the "American" is more "Anti-American" than the Non-American...hmmm, if i was American i will buy the company that keeps jobs in "America", but that's me...

in the next iphone the only part from samsung is the main chip or proccesor or CPU other parts will be from LG and other manufactures that means samsung will have no more info to copy from the iphone and ipad and apple contract with samsung will be over soon then they can get other suppliers samsung lost a lot. now you know why the galaxy s3 has the first quad core CPU and come out early than the iphone5.

Can I sell your property(I doubt you have some) and donate 75 percent to charity? I just keep 25 percent for myself. From your words it should be fair. Sorry, but in this formula you have 0 and this formula is yours.

Really? Samsung Galaxy S3 is a $700 phone with updated parts. Gorilla Glass 2, Super Amoled HD display, 720p, Android 4.0.4 (open-source, no jailbreak needed), Quad-Core w/ 1gb RAM or Dual-Core w/ 2gb RAM (depending on which version u get), micro-sd slot, super slim, S-Beam, and more. iPhone is OUTDATED! Dual-core w/ ONLY 512mb RAM, a mere 480p retina display, iOS that has to be jailbroken in order to modify it. Yeah...Apple used to be great but that time is over. You are paying for the name, not the phone. Samsung delivers top features. If I were you, I would do a little more research before posting something so ignorant.

Samsung phones were overpriced because they didn't have to pay for design or for OS development.

I am sure that Samsung will not be crying all the way to the bank. Some copying is cynical and I think this is a good example. It would not surprise me if Samsung had already accounted for copyright infringement in their costing of the iPhone lookalike project. It is justice that Apple are successful enough to sue and win.

Samsung's response to the verdict proves how they just sit and wait for what they can copy from other company.

Less innovation? Samsung didn't innovate on their own. They copied apple. Let's see some cool stuff now. :)

But there is a different between car and mobile in car 50 % of designs are copied but engines are different but in mobile design is important .If you innovate any thing then I copied form you then surely you hurt like that here apple also hurt
Aman

Apple never said dont make a phone!!! they simply asked everyone to not copy their hard work that is why Apple did not sue Sony because the did not copy (good on yah Sony) unlike those of SAMSUNG. ONCE AGAIN... educate before you try defend your SAMSUNG with a car example lol. SAMSUNG pay Apple over $1billion so it can use it lol :-)

Chano - August 25, 2012 at 1:40am
First of all, "Apple" did NOT invented "Siri" I have my iphone 4s and siri sucks most of the time however I had tried "S Voice" from Samsung Galaxy S3 and it works WAY better than "siri"
Jeff
Jeff - August 25, 2012 at 5:46am
Lol please do some research before making false claims like apple invented the capactive touch screen.
Pert
Pert - August 25, 2012 at 12:15pm
Should be "I have tried" or "I tried", past perfect tense has nothing to do here. May be Siri doesn't pick your accent? BTW: I have the same problem.

Well said, I'll add that a jury comprised of the consumers they so admire are the ones that found them guilty. As for the loss of competition, you need to have a real product before there can be competition. What this trial has proven is that apple has been competing with themselves for the most part.

Jepha - August 25, 2012 at 1:19am
Burn everything start from scratch. Be original. Then maybe Samsung will be as innovative and winning these patent wars with their competition not loosing money because of them.
