MuscleNerd, the well known iPhone hacker of the iPhone Dev Team, has just announced via twitter that he has made great progress on the 3G/3GS 6.15.00 baseband downgrade. This means that those who are officially unlocked and upgraded to 6.15.00 for the unlock, can downgrade back to 5.13.04, which will allow for both an unlock via ultrasn0w and GPS working!
Made great progress yesterday on downgrade from BB 06.15 (for 3G/3GS owners who got officially unlocked). All the pieces are there :)
This comes as great news for those that are stuck at 6.15.00 with no GPS and have been wanting to restore their baseband. Hopefully this will turn in to a release.

So what progress today?
And next time there're tweet: "hey, i've done many pieces stuff to unlock iPod shuffle!"
Don't expect it can make a phone call...!!! (unless apple think its cool... who knows?!)
Oh please, do the right things to make life more better, JB and unlocking this beauty phone are good to give freedom to ppl who bought this little thing with their own money and hard works (apple and their developer does too).
Just don't mention a FAKE HOPES in the name of freedom!
Sure, Apple's famous brand will upgrade your ranks as number 1 hacker, enjoy it, tweet it loud!

omfg you can use gps with 6.15.00 how the hell dontpeople know this by now? Just add beta.leimobile.com/repo/ to your repos and install tmobile or simple mobile mms fix from here, gps will work perfectly after that and same with mms sending/receiving. This will also work for iphone 4 gevey users and factory unlocked 4S users

I don't believe them shit. Many times they were just "talk", making progresses and promises and then nothing. Just don't say anything until you've actually GOT IT. THX

Again I forgot to mention I had to use an activation sim to activate my phone after I upgraded the baseband to 06.15... Do I need to use activation sim again after I update just the iOS to 5.0.1. While it's still on 06.15 baseband?

If your baseband is already flashed you would need to ou a no_bb ipsw to update, otherwise you will cause your baseband chip to fail and you would have to reflash it to fix the issue. You will need to re unlock it however that's the easy part, just jailbreak using redsnow and selecting the ipsw instead of absinthe, it almost never works for the 3GS, then just boot tethered and install rocky raccoon

I have an iPhone 3GS runing iOS 4.1 with baseband 06.15. I needed to update my iOS to 5.0.1. Do I need any other software after the update or I just update and se directly?

Just use redsnow to make a no_bb firmware and you can update to 5.1.1 and jailbreak untethered

Thanks and keep up the great work. Do not listen to the people that say that it is not worth to find correct iPhone unlock solution that does not hinder GPS location services on some devices.

Ok pardon my dumbass here but doesn't officially unlocked mean ummmm.... NO NEED for ultrasn0w!!!! I mean please correct me if I'm wrong... Also what's "who GOT officially unlocked" mean?

dgoooo - June 10, 2012 at 4:07pm
AT&T recently officially unlocked a lot of devices, most of this 06.15 devices are now officially unlocked thanks to that. So now they don't need ultrasn0w, they need their GPS back.

I agree. Why need an Ultrasn0w unlock if your phone is unlocked? Just because AT&T unlocked old phone helps nobody else, does it. Pointless for the rest of the world then isn't it.

Well I rarely see anybody with 3GS and I haven't see anybody with 3G in a long time. I appreciate your effort but would it be more helpfull if it goes for 4 or 4s.

iClarfied is always misleading, MuscleNerd said it is for 3G/3GS owners who got officially unlocked, so it means it will not be baseband 05.13.04, please think carefully before posting a thread next time!

This is of no benefit to 99% of affected iphone users on bb 6.15.

Well... Not necessarily. Looks at MuscleNerd's tweet right after the aforementioned one.
