The iPhone Dev-Team has updated RedSn0w with support for the tethered jailbreak of A4 devices on iOS 5.1.1.

Version 0.9.11b4 completes the tethered JB support for 5.1.1 on A4 devices and earlier, including proper "Stitching" and "Custom" creation of NO_BB IPSWs.

You can download the latest version of RedSn0w here.

You can find jailbreak instructions here. We will updating our tutorials for iOS 5.1.1 shortly; however, its the same process as for iOS 5.0.

Who needs a tethered jailbreak? It seems inconvenient for those who are not always near a computer.

I take it you keep rebooting your phone while at work to hate tethered jailbreak this much. I don't see you releasing an alternative.

He's not saying he could do better, he's saying for people "in the real world", who travel on business, the idea that an update by Cydia could turn your iPhone into a brick isn't an option. Thus he'd rather wait for an untethered JB. For those, as he said, who mostly stay at home, it wouldn't be such an issue.

I will never jailbreak any of my devices with tethered jailbreak ... It is a pain..if your phone crashes you are in trouble ..thats stupid if you ask me.. Id rather wait for the untethered jailbreak .Yea like I said if you have no job staying home all day..tethered is perfect for you..if you use ur phone all day and rely on it specially if you are in sales make a living with your phone it is not a good idea at all to have a phone that can shut on it that would require a computer to bring it back to life.. What if you have a child thats sick your wife or girl friend trying to get hold of you because you wanted a tethered .. SHouldnt even make a tethered jailbreak ..

I see your point but practically everyone I know who relies on their phone for work also carries a laptop and if that's the case, you can always boot your device and anyone with a tethered jailbreak doing a cydia update on the fly not next to a computer is stupid. Updates can wait.

No actually you are not stuck with a tethered jailbreak. After jailbreaking all you need is to go to Cydia, add a source and then you can download semi-untether. From its name you have an untethered jailbreak except that any Cydia apps won't work. Simple
