WSJ Confirms Next Generation iPad Will Support LTE

The WSJ is confirming earlier reports that Apple will announce an LTE iPad 3 during the first week of March.

Verizon Wireless and AT&T Inc. will sell a version of the coming iPad that runs on their newest fourth-generation wireless networks, according to people familiar with the matter, as the battle to cash in on big investments in mobile broadband heats up.

Apple Inc. appears to be planning to announce the latest version of its tablet computer in the first week of March, according to another person briefed on the matter.



The WSJ says they weren't able to find out whether Sprint or T-Mobile would carry the new device.

Last week, a report revealed that AT&T was about to receive a batch of LTE enabled micro-SIM cards. It appears likely that these SIM cards are intended for use with the new iPad.
