Apple has decided to drop the iPhone Non-Disclosure agreement (NDA) for released iPhone software.

We have decided to drop the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for released iPhone software.

We put the NDA in place because the iPhone OS includes many Apple inventions and innovations that we would like to protect, so that others don’t steal our work. It has happened before. While we have filed for hundreds of patents on iPhone technology, the NDA added yet another level of protection. We put it in place as one more way to help protect the iPhone from being ripped off by others.

However, the NDA has created too much of a burden on developers, authors and others interested in helping further the iPhone’s success, so we are dropping it for released software. Developers will receive a new agreement without an NDA covering released software within a week or so. Please note that unreleased software and features will remain under NDA until they are released.

can you understand please when we didn't have money we launch osx an adopt all those homeless linux programers with our osx unix bases os but... now we think diferent... cause we have money

I guess bad press and competition from Google/TMobile and RIM had nothing to do with this decision. . . It's all about the "burden on developers, authors and others interested in helping further the iPhones success". Cut the horse crap, we get enough of that from the politicians. Let's see if they'll loosen a bit on the App approval process. Please note!!! they are dropping it for released software only. This is just a smoke screen to get the issue out of the papers and internet blogs. Well played Apple.

i think Apple doesn't remember that at least 40% of "their" stuff has been made from other users. Example: Installer or Cydia = App Store LocateMe = GPS Capable iPhone Summerboard = Springboard (from firmware 1.1.3 and later) And so on :)

This could further help with bringing Adobe Flash to the iphone if i am correct
