The newly released beta of iOS 5.1 brings back the ability to turn off 3G, notes @funguyom.

The toggle can be found under the General:Network menu as can be seen in the screenshot below...

i wonder when they are planning on an update that will actually fix the battery drain? i updated, let my phone charge to 100%, went to bed... when i woke up my battery was at 73%, that's a bit too much in my opinion... hopefully we will get a bone for that battery issue eventually!

The title to the article should be iOS 5.1 adds ability to turn off 3G on iPhone 4S to avoid confusion.

SBSettings already does that in 5.0.1....

damn they came out with a new firmware to enable / disable the 3G service.. Its unbelievable..... iam buying a new phone and i dont have the option to switch from 3G to 2G... well make apple. please continue the monopoly

I already have it on my 3gs with iOS 5.0.1 installed. So, what is new?

You probably have iPhone 4. This is an issue with the 4S. Nobody who has a 4S has the ability to toggle 3G in any firmware.

Guys this is for iphone4s ppl the persons with iPhone 4 can do this but the new 4s don't have the option 2. Well after months of crying finally its back

iphone 3gs and 4 have that option in 5.0.1 but not the 4S...so the option is back on 5.1 for the 4S

so it toke them exactly a month to add this feature after beta 2? Apple's updates are useless..they number them big even tho whats in the update is minor! battery and off and on 3g can be done in a 5.0.2 and something major in 5.1...RIP STEVE JOBS.
