Samsung has dropped its suit against iPhone 4S over use of its 3G patents and instead filed a new suit involving four different patents, reports Florian Mueller of FOSS Patents.
News from Mannheim: today Samsung sued Apple over four more patents here. 2 FRAND patents, 2 unencumbered ones.
Other news from Mannheim: Samsung has formally given up attacking the iPhone 4S with 3G patents. Recognizes Apple is licensed thru Qualcomm.
Samsung says it hasn't waived its rights to use those 3G patents against Apple in the future but they rather they excluded products with Qualcomm chips without prejudice for the purpose of streamlining one particular case.
Mueller says he will post a more in depth analysis of the situation on his blog.
