Former Vice President Al Gore, who spoke this morning at AsiaD, told TIMN that it will be hard for AT&T to overcome the Justice Department's motion to block its merger with T-Mobile.
"Well… it's going to be reviewed. My guess is that the Justice Department so rarely undertakes an initiative like the one they took against that merger. I think it'll be hard to overturn that measure. Both companies will try to put it back together, but they'd be well advised to start looking at other strategies."
Saying that the $39 billion dollar acquisition would "substantially lessen competition" in the wireless market, the Justice Department filed suit in a Washington federal court. The U.S. is seeking a declaration that the takeover violates antitrust law and a court order preventing the deal.
T-mobile has no competition right now...No IPHONE4S ...No Unlimited data plan anymore..so who cares about T-mobile.
I think at&tt is paying way to much for att ..its not worth $39 billion dollars that for sure.
If I were att instead of spending that $$ offer to all T-mobile customers 50% off for 2 yrs of their bill ...watch they will come all running to att ...
They will be out of business really soon.
