Brazil's Minister of Science and Technology, Aloizio Mercadante, says that Foxconn's new factory in Brazil is ready to produce iPads that will reach the market by December. The comments were made during a hearing of the Commission Economic Affairs (CAE) of the Senate, reports UOL.
"At first many doubted, but it will be the first time that the company will produce iPads outside Chinese territory. We are taking a big step for digital inclusion in the country," he said.
Foxconn originally planned to start iPad production in November but that date was moved up with hopes that production could start as early as July.
