The worlds most popular operating system, Windows XP, will not be compatible with iCloud. Per the company's press release, using iCloud with a PC requires Windows Vista or Windows 7. While iTunes 10.3 and MobileMe both include Windows XP in the support list, it looks like Apple is shifting support away from the older OS.
Using iCloud with a PC requires Windows Vista or Windows 7; Outlook 2010 or 2007 is recommended for accessing contacts and calendars.
Considering backwards-compatibility for iTunes 10.3 only goes back four years to OS X 10.5, it is rather surprising to see the ten year old OS, XP, has even stayed on the list as long as it has.
If you are still on Windows XP and plan on using iCloud, will you be upgrading to Windows Vista or 7?
Uhm, first of all, iCloud is free, you only have to pay (if you want) for Music Match (the thing that scans your library and auto-enables, if found, all your music on the clouds, without the need to upload).
Second, Google does not haves an iCloud, they have "Music beta".
I don't where the heck you are been reading your news lately...
Oh no, MobileMe is closed and is not receiving more subscriptions, so, it's dead. iCloud will be free. You only have to pay IF YOU WANT Music Match, 25 bucks yearly.
To be honest, I think most of the people who will use icloud have vista, 7 or osx. However (this isn't really related to icloud) xp is the only operating system I've seen in schools. Mostly on computers as old as the os itself.
Oh and abou the malwares, actually Apple give FREE updates to counter the maleware outbreaks. Read last weeks news, perfect example. A free update to kill the virus.
I CAN afford a Mac, I just don't want one. I did have a very short demo of a Macbook, but just didnt like it. I suppose I could get used to it and learn how to get the best out of MacOs but too used to Windows (7 currently). Beside I can get twice the PC for the same price as a Mac and be less resticted with what software and harware I can and can't use.
Firstly, Apple have supported a range of Microsoft products, iCloud isnt the first.
Secondly, What is there to debate? Why would a MS fanboy still want to use XP anyway? Maybe when Vista was their flagship product, but not with 7.
Thirdly, an Apple computer isnt locked down, if you wanted to mod/delete system files like your windows computer and screw it up you can. Unlike an Apple computer, though, by default you need a password to change it.
Fourthly, with the malware, I doubt anyone here, whether it be windows or mac, is stupid enough to believe a random skinned 'application' pop up that pretends to scan their computer for virus would go and download and install some software on their computer. IE has always had these problems, especially with their ActiveX plugins.
Lie. You can't get twice the PC for the price of a Mac. What research have u done?? None. Macs are built with SOME of the latest technology right out of the box. A windows PC has to be upgraded to the furthest extent just to match. Go to Apples website and build a 13 inch Mac. Then go to Dell and try and match it part for part (this includes updating 7 to Ultimate). Don't lie, part for part. The only thing that comes close is Alienware on their site (15 inch at that). Cost? Same price. So the a larger screen on the Dell which is not LED, you get a bulky ass laptop with an Alien printed on it. Wow, sign me up Dell.
And also you gan get twice the crap on pc- glitches, viruses etc etc etc!
You can't judge car by looking at it - you need to drive it, same for OS - you can't tell how good or bad it is by "short demo"!
Because there is no need to talk or ask about malware on OSX. We are not saying that there is national disaster if 10 people out of million have flu! Same for macs - there is no actual problem with that.
