A 17-year old Chinese boy has reportedly sold his right kidney for an iPad 2. The boy, from Huaishan City, said he couldn't afford an iPad 2 and wanted one rather badly. He came in contact with an online broker told him he could get 22,000 Yuan (about $3,400) for his kidney.
I wanted to buy an iPad 2 but could not afford it said the boy surnamed Zheng in Huaishan City A broker contacted me on the Internet and said he could help me sell one kidney for 20 000 yuan.
When his mother found out that her son had had his right kidney removed at Chenzhou Hospital, she informed the police. The hospital reportedly doesn't have the proper facilities to perform such surgery, which lasts about three hours. Now as the police are investigating, the boys health is deteriorating.

Pretty sad, but that follows the stigmata of the Apple cult. Maybe if the iPad didn't have a ridiculous markup (as does all apple products), he wouldn't have had to go to this extream

I don't think he even has his iPad yet, I mean he probably didn't get paid until after the surgery so if he's still in the hospital he might die before he even gets the chance to purchase one.

Okay... So a husband returned his and apple gave him a new one. I think this kid, though very stupid, deserves an iPad, an iMac and a call from Steve on his new iPhone to thank him for taking fanboy to a whole new level!!

What if he can't earn enough to buy an ipad 2, you talk like everyone works for 2500$/month, i dont approve of the kid's actions, but you really cant talk like this about a kid who maybe works in a nike/adidas factory for 2 bucks a month..

I love how barely anybody ever talks about Clinton, and he's the entire reason we're even in this mess. It's because of him that people were able to buy houses they couldn't afford in the first place, and then had to foreclose on that caused this entire mess.

No, seriously, i didn't say you have to make 2500$/month just so you can afford an ipad, but you really don't know if he earns even a fifth of that, and you don't know if he works at all. Who knows maybe he works hrs/day - which is definetly more then you do, and earns a few $$ cuz he lives somewhere where they can't buy such stuff. Anyway i don't condone smth like this, and disagree with a kid, just annoyed by ppl talking like go get a job or smth. ...
