Consumer Reports has tested the white iPhone 4 and determined that it is not thicker than the black model.
Wearing black is the time-honored technique for appearing thinner without shrinking an inch. Apparently it works for the iPhone 4, as well. Recently an avalanche of news and tech sites reported that the white iPhone 4 was thicker than the black iPhone, even showing side-by-side photos claiming it was 2mm thicker than the black version.
But when we compared a white iPhone 4 with a black iPhone 4 in our Yonkers, NY, lab using high-quality calipers, we found they were both the same thickness (0.37 inches). This supports Apple's assertion that the devices are the same size.
They also tried numerous cases which of course fit just fine contrary to an early report.
Anyone knows that this type of research cannot be concluded by the evaluation of 1 item only. If they were to test several phones and come to this conclusion, that would be one thing, but to come to a conclusion based on 1 test, that is ridiculous. I have seen first hand a white iPhone that is in-fact slightly thicker. I have also seen a white iPhone that is the same size, as the picture above describes. C'mon people...
My sister has a Verizon White iPhone, I myself have confirmed they are all the same size. That guy must have had a bogus white iPhone case which gave us the impression that I was thicker.
