Apple Blocks Saurik's SHSH Servers [Update: No]

Posted April 19, 2011 at 4:31pm by iClarified
Apple has reportedly blocked all of Amazon to prevent saurik's SHSH servers from accessing gs.apple.com, according to chpwn.

Apple has blocked all of Amazon (where @saurik's SHSH servers are hosted) from accessing gs.apple.com (Apple's SHSH server). /cc @notcom

The solution to the SHSH "issue" is just saving them locally (and submitting to Cydia, once there's a "submit my SHSH" feature).

We'll update you as soon as saurik comments on the matter...

Update
It looks like chpwn was mistaken. Saurik reveals that it was a code 'snafu' that prevented his servers from saving new blobs.

My SHSH proxy (which has never been run off of EC2) had a simple code sync SNAFU keeping it from saving "new" blobs. :( This has been fixed.

Appleinsider reports that "8 and 9 percent of iOS-based devices are jailbroken, and 1.5 million unique users log into Cydia daily" There are more than 30 million ios devices out there. So, no need to be a mouthy d-bag.

while i agree with you that apple should let owners decide what they do with their i-devices, your assumption that apple will lose significant business over this blocking of the shsh servers is idiotic at best.

This is weird. Why is saurik's email address on an apple.com domain? Go to gs.apple.com/TSS_/ You'll see: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, saurik@saurik.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. you probably have your hosts file pointing gs.apple.com to saurik's site.

So when I login to Cydia on my iphone I see my saved blobs at the top of the screen. I do not see 4.3.2 though I am Jbroke. (3g3, 4.3.2) am I suppose to see it at the top. I see 3.0....to 4.2.1 Should I do something to save my blobs?

You could always run tinyumbrella/firmware umbrella (just google it) if you want to be sure but i wouldn't worry too much, the information at the top of cydia isnt the most acurate for some reason, for me it says i have SHSH for the 4.2 beta saved, a version i never used but 4.3.1 is not in the list and i know that SHSH is saved

As far as I know, Jailbreaking doesn't mean necessarily that Cydia is storing your SHSH blobs, there used to be a "Make my life easier" button that would make Cydia's server keep them. Besides tiny umbrella, you can also install iSHSHit on you phone and save them or email them to you too. https://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=13074

The make my life easier option only shows up the first time you open Cydia on a device it'll recognise the device even after a restore so it doesn't need to show up more.

For jailbreak units no one!!! For downgrading firmware, only if you had saved your SHSH's in your local computer!!
