Apple Sues Samsung For Copying the iPhone and iPad

Apple has filed suit against Samsung Electronics for copying the look and feel of its iPhone and iPad, according to the WSJ.

The lawsuit, filed on April 15 in the Northern District of California, alleged that Samsung's smartphones, such as the "Galaxy S 4G," "Epic 4G," "Nexus S" and its "Galaxy Tab" touchscreen tablet, violated Apple's intellectual property.

"Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple's technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products," the lawsuit said.

The Journal notes that this is bound to complicate the relationship between the companies as Samsung makes microchips used in Apple's products.

The galaxy tab it's not at all iPad-like,it's smaller,and different design.Of course,it has a display and icons,but how should they make it?Microsoft sued Apple for using icons and mouse arrow on Mac Os?I love Apple products,i believe it is art,bad this has nothing to do with art,is all about money in the end...

What did android ever do wrong? I don't think it's a copy at all. iOS and android have significant differences.

How many ways ARE there to make a tablet interface? It's basically a flat screen with icons no matter how you look at it.

...ok...so Sam makes parts for all the istuff....so this means that mapple will have to look for another supplier of components?...NICE!!! Wonder what company will supply them with memory and chips.

This is interesting, might be a little too late after Xoom already came out, obviously Apple sees a threat and launches a lawsuit, being a huge Apple fan I have mixed feelings about the company. I highly admire its innovative technology but there are hundreds of products just like the iPhone out there so now it's a matter of time before they all get sued? If Apple strongly believed that new or ongoing supporters continue to embrace their products then why should they worry? They should be proud of their themselves not bitter.
