Take a look at this video in which Steve Jobs, founder of Apple Computer, discusses how the experience of building illegal blue boxes empowered him and Steve Wozniak to found Apple Computer.

Like Steve, I remember those days fondly. Jobs and Woz were, in essence, the quintessential hackers. The fascination with technology, combined with a very definite intellectual gamesmanship, was truly intoxicating. People may find the jailbreak cat-and-mouse game to be infuriating, but I believe that it is simply a continuation of the same gamesmanship, with Jobs now on the other side. Apple doesn't try to stop jailbreaking for simply economic reasons. He is remembering his days of trying to get around increasingly sophisticated methods employed by Ma Bell to stop the various colors of boxes from wreaking havoc with the telephone system. Now, he is on the other side and he is trying to stop increasingly sophisticated methods of jailbreaking. And he is having fun!

Now we have a few Blue Boxes but they are called Pwntage Tool, LimeRain and TinyUmbrella.

lol I actually like the iPhone and other Apple products quite a bit... and since Jobs is in part (or in whole) responsible for their outstanding quality, I prefer him alive : ) His whole control-freak thing is very annoying though and I wish the jailbreak community overcomes anything Apple throws at them.

My friend used to make free calls without the blue box. he would call a company number which had central phone system and than only by the sound the number makes he would know which number to call to get access . he would use pay phones make the call for people and collect the money :)
