ModMyi has put together a list of improvements found in the new version of Cydia.

Commenting on the release Saurik said, "some of my long term performance plans are 'hitting pay dirt', and Cydia is much faster than it was before; that said, it isn't done yet: there's one more thing that I think is going to make a huge difference that isn't even in there yet but should be for the final release."

What's New:
● reduced loading changes time
● section remapping optimizations
● faster reloading data
● faster, native search
● uses public SDK classes whenever possible
● rewritten, faster web views with zooming support
● changes badge works again
● more stable webviews (no crashes when queueing)
● redesigned settings page
● redesigned stashing page
● faster scrolling of table views
● bug fixes
● ads no longer break the package views until restart
● much better queueing UI
● stabler refreshing bar

iPad improvements:
● landscape
● popovesr
● modal views that cover only a portion of the screen
● less annoying errors with bad internet connections downloading packages
● updated section mappings, less typo'd sections

This version of Cydia is included in the latest release of RedSn0w and can also be downloaded directly from here.

As someone who has voiced my complaints about Cydia's performance in previous posts, I have to say I am impressed. This latest version is amazingly fast by comparison - from literally minutes to load changes to a few seconds. Very nice and apparently there's still more to come. Great job. db

go to safari get @ http://apt.saurik.com/debs/cydia_1.0.3366-1_iphoneos-arm.deb be sure you installed iFile the install from there then reboot..

Did anyone had some problems with battery persentage that installed from redsnow 9.6.5b5 ? mine seems like to displayed the wrong persentage of my iphone batt...

My battery is draining out like crazy. today i fully charged it and it went below 20% in exactly 5 hours. i have an iphone 3g 8 GB. did the jailbreak with the latest redsn0w and unlocked it with ultrasn0w.

i think ever since ios 4.1 the battery life has been shitty.. I turned off push notifications completely and it drains about 1 % every 30 minutes on idle

How to install the .deb file?

If you have openssh (or you can use ifunbox) get the cydia deb file That's the installation file. If you have ifile then it's as simple as using winscp (or ifunbox) to place the .deb file somewhere and use ifile to install it (tap the file, press install). If you don't have ifile then you can use the autoinstall trick place the file here: /var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall reboot the phone. (it's OK if you don't have the Cydia or AutoInstall folder already just create them.) That'll reinstall it.

I have no idea how to install deb file, but I've found easier way. I've updated just adding the following repo: http://iphoneroot.com/repo/ to my Cydia.

if you jailbroke it with new redsn0w than you got new cydia if not than they have .deb file over at xsellize.com. i think under jailbreak support section

If you don't like terminal, this is how I did it. Install OpenSSH using Cydia and change default password. Connect iPhone to wireless network and find IP address of phone as usual Start Fetch on Mac. Specify iphone IP address in New Connect Host Name, root as Username, and ssh password as Password. After connection made, go to Path menu in Fetch and select var Navigate to mobile folder and then to Media Create new folder in Media called Cydia Create new folder in Cydia called AutoInstall Use Fetch Put function to put downloaded cydia_1.0.3366-1_iphoneos-arm.deb file in AutoInstall folder Quit Fetch Reboot iPhone and the new Fetch should be installed If not, download iFile to iPhone using Cydia Start iFile and navigate to AutoInstall folder Tap cydia_1.0.3366-1_iphoneos-arm.deb and tell the installer to run Restart Cydia and it will be the new version
