NoMute is a new tweak by Nicolas Haunold that makes the iPad mute switch an orientation lock again.

You can find the free tweak in the BigBoss Cydia repository.

Tried many times to install and make work, but no such luck. After installing the app it requires the device to be rebooted. Well. it starts the reboot and once the Apple logo comes on it stays - and stays forever. Hard reset not possible, all I could do was to put it back into DFU and restore with the OS software to get the iPad into function again. Tried on 3 different iPads and always the same. Anyone else having this problem, please? Thank you.

This 4.2.1 JailBrake is as Nov 25 2010, tethered JB, so every time you need to restart you have to do it tethered to your computer and with Redsnow in tethered restart mode. So you nearly done it. BTW im using no mute and it works great

I don't get all the rage over this hardware lock or mute. I back apples decision, the iPad isn't small like an iPhone, you have to actually turn it to change the screen orientation unlike the iPhone where a tilt can end up turning it, I haven't once changed orientation on the iPad by accident, and yet im quite often looking to quickly mute when I receive a phone call etc. I know u can hold the volume down button but that doesn't feel natural. And besides, it's completely logical to unify the controls across their product range to make it more intuitive and natural for the consumer. Don't understand all the fuss :/

I use the rotation lock a lot because I mostly use the iPad for reading in bed. I had it running 4.2 but downgraded it back to iOS 3.7 just because of this MINOR change. For some users this makes a lot of difference. I don´t understand why Apple just didn´t put the option in settings so users can decide for them selves.

well that's a good point, it should just be a setting, simple fix. I think once people are used to double home button tap etc then it'll become second nature though n won't be a problem, it's just the initial stage of changing the muscle memory from reaching for the lock/mute button i think

try reading in bed, or walking around with it while having something open, its stupid that they changed it, they should have at least given us an alternative, or an option to choose what we want that button to do. unfortunately the nomute map crashed my ipad too... now I have to restore it...

I do read/use it in bed and when I'm walkin around, I don't have a problem with it rotating, maybe just me =/
