MuscleNerd, a member of the iPhone Dev-Team, has announced that the SHAtter jailbreak itself is tethered but comex has come up with a way to untether it!
Those reading between the lines: Yes SHAtter itself is tethered. @comex came up with a way to untether it on 4.1/3.2.2
SHAtter is yet another breed of exploit. Bootrom-based but requires userland "assistance" for untethered boots (@comex did this for 4.1)
This is excellent news since a tethered jailbreak would require your iDevice to be connected to the computer for reboot.
The Greenp0ison jailbreak will be released October 10th at 10:10:10 GMT.

I was on jailbroken 4.0, and used the method i found on the net with sn0wbreeze and it updated the 4.1 ipsw to a custom, and i restored it in iTunes, job done.
Baseband: 05-13-04
Bootloader: 6.4 (maybe this is the new one??)
But it's jailbroken and i can always go back to earlier versions with my SHSH blobs on file
it's jailbreak that's written in the post.. not unlock. get ur facts straight b4 u speak.
now back to the questions, when WILL the unlock be out for 4.1? :)
@td0gg111: hacktivate (activation) and unlocking are two different things. just because it gets the phone past activation doesn't mean it unlocks the baseband for use with a foreign sim card.
currently, the information has only told us that they will be able to jailbreak and hacktivate iOS 4.1 but not unlock it (unless the iPhone is running an older baseband)
:-). I only hear learned how to say it. This is the first time I actually wrote it:-). And I did say sorry to him! :-). And there is no unlock for new baseband out yet! Hactivate does not do the job!
"This is excellent news since a tethered jailbreak would require your iDevice to be connected to the computer for reboot"
Meaning you'd need to plug your iDevice into the computer each time you reboot in order to remain jailbroken.
