Application developers can prevent their app media from being streamed to other devices by building a custom player, according to a DaringFireball report.
Apps using the built-in media controller views get AirPlay out for free. Apps that don’t (like Hulu) need to roll their own using AVFoundation.
This was a concern for developers who build apps that display content only licensed for mobile devices.
