Steve Jobs says he will never return back to Japan after authorities barred him from taking Ninja throwing stars aboard his private jet, according to a SPA! magazine report.
Bloombery says, a security scan at Kansai International Airport, near Osaka, detected the weapons inside the executive’s carry-on luggage in July as he was returning home to the U.S. from a family vacation in Kyoto, the Japanese magazine reported, citing unidentified officials at the airport and the transportation ministry.
Jobs said it wouldn’t make sense for a person to try to hijack his own plane, according to the report. He then told officials he would never visit Japan again, the magazine reported. Apple declined to comment.
Takeshi Uno, an airport spokesman verified the occurrence but would not identify the passenger citing the airport's privacy policy. He did say that the passenger threw away the blades.
Update: Apple provided the following quote to Digital Daily:
"Steve did visit Japan this summer for a vacation in Kyoto, but the incidents described at the airport are pure fiction. Steve had a great time and hopes to visit Japan again soon."
this whole occurence is the definition of a rumour, its borderline lying to depict it to be so integral, it should be stated that the source of the information is questionable.
I think he is preparing for a new product concept. The iStar. The Ninja Star of the future. You will be able to kill someone and also make calls with it and check our email if need be...
Look out for copyright filings soon....
The point of the law is to protect passengers flying on the plane from terrorism. If it's his plane then obviously there is no need. Plus these things are no more dangerous then the many kitchen knives that are no doubt already on the plane.
Apparently not eveyone is able to think thru.
once somebody is allowed INSIDE the airport with weapons then he can pass them to somebody else taking another flight. It is simply a security risk.
Besides Steve is acting like a little child. He could have put them on his suitcases and there would have been no problem. He just wanted to be a very Important Person for whom rules do not apply.
The qsn here shud be y was he going thru airport security if he has a private plane shoul he just drive to his car or is Jap such a small country u can't do that. I never been to Jap so maybe shits different there, airport structure wise I mean.
