Google Plans to Bring Google Goggles to iPhone Later This Year

Google is working on Google Goggles for the iPhone and hopes to have it available later this year, according to the Register.

Google Goggles lets users take pictures of various objects and helps identify them. Items that Goggles can identify include buildings, bridges, landmarks, bar codes, logos, text, business cards and product info for things like books and DVDs.

"We're working on an iPhone version, and hope to have it out by the end of the year," Google Engineer David Petrou told his keynote audience at Monday's Hot Chips conference at Stanford University in California.


Back in June, Google project manager Shailesh Nalawadi said Goggles was coming soon.

Hopefully Apple will approve the app once it's completed.

Nice! Hope this gets through the App Store-approval! Yesterday I recommended my girlfriend to download this for for her Desire Android-phone, and it impressed us both!
