The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple doesn't plan to recall the iPhone 4 tomorrow.
The Cupertino, Calif., company has called a news conference at its headquarters to discuss the issue Friday. Apple doesn't plan to recall the phone, a person familiar with the matter said.
The Apple engineers were aware of the risks associated with the new antenna design as early as a year ago, but Chief Executive Steve Jobs liked the design so much that Apple went ahead with its development, said another person familiar with the matter.
Many analysts agree with this statement saying that an optional free repair program could be put in place to provide a fix for those who feel they need one.
Proposed solutions include an electrically insulating organic hydrophobic layer atop the antenna's bare metal or a 'brute force' internal hardware fix.
I hope something might be done.. I love the iPhone 4 and yes it has bugs but I hope the Antenna one is taken care of somehow. I bought the bumper and it didnt work. I called apple and they gave me a full refund of the bumper and said Kepp it. We dont want it back.. So I guess I got one for free. I keep it on becuase I like that you can lay it down and it not touch the back or front with it on. Well I hope things go well tomorrow. I dont think they would EVER do a full recall. Steve Jobs it to bull headed for that one.
