The only way I see this technology being useful is if the whole desk had this surface under a nice finish. Then the desk would automatically keep all your gadgets fully charged (laptops, phones, cams etc-.) As of now I don't see the advantage of laying the phone on this weird looking pad as opposed to sticking in the charging dock.

I like the idea but look that dumb nub sticking out of the bottom. That would be so uncomfortable in my jeans
