Apple to Ship New iPad Pro With Slimmer Bezels, No Home Button, Face ID in June [Report]

Apple is purportedly planning to ship a new iPad Pro with smaller bezels, no Home button, and Face ID in June, according to Rosenblatt analyst Jun Zhang via Barrons.

Zhang expects “total iPad production to be between 16-18 million units, with 6-8 million iPad Pro models likely implementing 3D sensing functionality in the June quarter."

This corroborates rumors from late last year.


Interestingly, Zhang believes we could also see a smaller version of Apple's HomePod.

"Apple’s HomePod sales are on track to meet Apple’s 5 million unit target,” he writes. "If released, we believe a lower-end HomePod model could help Apple further penetrate the low-end smart speaker market possibly later this year."

This aligns with a Daily News report from today which said Apple was working on a lower priced HomePod that would cost between $150 and $200.

As we've heard before, Zhang says that sales of the iPhone X have been disappointing.


The device “did not sell well during the Chinese New Year,” he writes, adding “we are not surprised with the quick cooldown of iPhone X sales following Chinese New Year.

"It is our view many consumers are awaiting an expected 6.1-inch LCD iPhone—a larger screen iPhone at a lower retail price."

Zhang cut his estimate for iPhone sales for the March quarter to 50 million from 52 million. He is still predicting 38 million units for the June quarter based on a potential bump from a red iPhone X.
