Logitech announced a few updates to its Circle 2 security camera today. The camera is one of the few to support HomeKit, Alexa, and Google Assistant.

Notification Snapshots is a new feature that sends snapshot of the camera's view to your mobile device when a motion detection event is triggered.

An extension of our Smart Alerts feature, Notification Snapshots is available for Android and iOS versions of the Logi Circle app and provides you with a visual “snapshot” of an event or scene sent straight to your phone’s home screen when motion triggers your Circle 2 camera. Whether you’re away at the office or on vacation, this new push notification feature lets you see immediately if it’s just the mailman at the door or a possible intruder without opening the Logi Circle app to see what’s happening at home. Simply push “View” to enlarge the thumbnail version of your Snapshot and double check that everything is as it should be.

If you have the Circle Safe Premium Subscription, Notification Snapshots will provide a zoomed in view of the person or object that triggered the motion based on the Person Detection feature. Making it easier to determine if an alert is important.

Notification Snapshots is available today for free via a software update to the Logi Circle app.

Logitech has also created new Circle Safe Home subscriptions:
● For single camera homes, Circle Safe Basic subscriptions are $3.99/month and Circle Safe Premium are $9.99/month or $99.99/year
● For up to 5 cameras, Circle Safe Basic Home starts at $6.99/month or $69/year and Circle Safe Premium Home starts at $17.99/month or $179/year. If you own 5 cameras, that’s just $1.15/month per camera if you choose the Basic plan and $2.98/month per camera when you choose Premium.

Circle Safe Basic offers 14 days of cloud storage while Circle Safe Premium offers 31 days. The Circle's free tier only offers 24 hours of cloud storage, significantly less than the Netgear Arlo cameras which come with a free 7 days of storage for motion and audio triggered recordings.

The Logitech Circle 2 wired camera is currently $179.99 on Amazon and the battery powered version is $181.99.

I’ve heard friends tell me this is the worst camera on the market and tell me to stay far away. Too bad.
