Apple Hires Former UK Channel 4 Chief Creative Officer Jay Hunt

Apple has hired former Channel 4 chief creative officer Jay Hunt, reports the Financial Times.

The UK-based broadcasting executive was once a favorite to succeed outgoing CEO David Abraham but quit just days before a decision was to be announced. Her time at Channel 4 ended just last month.

The hire is Apple's first high profile move in Europe as it seeks to expand its original programming efforts. Hunt also served as a controller for BBC One and director of programmes at Channel 5.


When she starts at Apple in January, Ms Hunt will play a key role in its international creative development team as it looks to deploy a budget of more than $1bn for original series over the next year. That team will report to Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht, its Los Angeles-based chief content officers, both of whom Apple lured from Sony Pictures Television in June to begin its latest push into television.
