Check out this short video demonstration of how app switching works on the iPhone X. The footage appears to have been posted anonymously to imgur a few hours ago.
Notice the gesture which is a sweeping motion up from one bottom corner and then down to the other.
A couple close-up photos were also shared in the same album. Take a look below!

The notch isn’t bad hardware-wise. It’s the damn software. If they just blacked out the pixels and made everything sit just below the notch, looking similar to Apple Music, it would look amazing. It would look like the bezel has gained the ability to display the time.
That notch is just so ugly, cannot believe they forgot about it. I really wanted to buy it, but its impossible with that thing breaking up the design language of the iPhone big time. So promising with end to end screen, then you lose big time when you turn it into landscape mode which is the mode I use probably 85%. In landscape mode the screen size is laughable. No, somebody like Steve have to oversee those things. iPhone design have not changed since iPhone 6, that is just hard facts.
I don't like it. Much better if done as with activator & SwitcherControls, swipe up gesture to open the merged app switcher & control center, then either we kill apps or access anything.
