Check out this close up video clip of Apple's self-driving car setup shot by MacCallister Higgins.
Going to need more than 140 characters to go over [Apple]'s Project Titan. I call it "The Thing"
The vehicle appears to have six Velodyne-made LIDAR sensors on its roof with radar and cameras as well. Higgins, who is co-founder of self-driving startup Voyage, tells The Verge that the compute stack is likely located on the roof with the sensors unlike most other operators who typically place the high-powered GPUs in the trunk.
Another Twitter user (@idiggapple) reports seeing the vehicle a few weeks ago at an Apple shuttle stop.
I saw one of these a few weeks ago pull up to an Apple shuttle stop-sit there for a few then drove off.
This sighting could align with rumors that Apple is working on an in-house shuttle service called PAIL, short for Palo Alto to Infinite Loop, that will help the company test its self-driving technology.
