Apple has opened its first retail store location in Southeast Asia. The Orchard Road store in Singapore opened its doors this morning with Angela Ahrendts, Apple's SVP of Retail, on hand to greet customers.
Apple Orchard Road opened Saturday to thousands of customers who queued to explore Apple’s first store in Southeast Asia. Braving the equatorial heat as early as Friday night, customers were greeted by Apple’s Angela Ahrendts and the store’s 237 employees when doors opened at 10 a.m.
The location features a 120-foot glass facade that blurs the barrier between inside and out, while 16 interior trees continue the city’s lush greenery throughout the space. A unique 25-foot canopy protects Apple Orchard Road from tropical sunlight and provides shelter from the rain. As an architectural highlight, the location features twin curved Castagna stone staircases.
