A new report from ETNews claims that the upcoming iPhone 8 will have a 'water drop design' with a rounded back.
The design is allegedly reminiscent of the iPhone 3G and 3GS. Sources say that Apple has selected a 3D glass material on the back case that makes curves around the top, bottom, left and right edges. The edge curve is said to be more gentle and rounded than the existing metal case edges.
"Apple's next iPhone will have a rear case made of glass," an industry official said. "This glass case is a curved wall surrounded by four sides."
While there is an emphasized back curve, the front is said to be more flat. Despite adopting an OLED display for the first time, Apple won't have a curved display like the Galaxy Edge.
This will make the new iPhone look like the original. Apple used a flat, rounded design from the first iPhone to the iPhone 3GS in 2007. If you put it upside down on the floor, it looks like it is dripping.

"If you put it upside down on the floor, it looks like it is dripping." What on earth are talking about?!
First iPhone was dead flat from the back. Edges were rounded but it was totally flat. I still have mine on the bookshelf.
