The iPhone 8 will reportedly have a flat display, not a curved one like some reports are predicting, according to IHS Markit analyst Wayne Lam.
"We anticipate Apple will adopt a flat implementation of OLED design on their special iPhone model, which is analogous to the current 2.5D glass design," Lam told MacRumors. "Much like the recently announced LG G6, we anticipate a touchscreen with a new longer aspect ratio design to take advantage of higher coverage area of the iPhone in its entirety. This new design language is expected to become the trend for 2017, as we all anticipate Samsung's reveal later this month."
Notably, this lines up with recent predictions from TrendForce and the well respected Ming-Chi Kuo.
It's possible that some of the curved display rumors we're hearing are actually referring to the slightly curve on the edges that the current generation iPhones already have. We'll know more once production gets underway and parts start leaking online.
Besides having an iPhone I also have the Galaxy S7 Edge. The most annoying feature on the phone is the curved screen, because if you hold your phone using two hands and your thumb just touches the edge your screen either does things you don't want or it doesn't respond to the actions you do with the other hand.
The iPhone had a similar issue with a flat screen. They fixed it a few years back with an iOS update. But I go agree with you it is annoying as I too have a EDGE G7 and an iPhone 7P. I hope they fixed this flaw on the new Galaxy S8.
