iPhone 6s and 6s Plus Beat iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in Boot Speed Test [Video]

iPhone 6s and 6s Plus Beat iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in Boot Speed Test [Video]

Posted September 20, 2016 at 6:29pm by iClarified
Check out this video that compares the boot speed of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus versus the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. All devices are 128GB models that have been freshly restored to iOS 10.0.1 and set up with the exact same configuration.

Notably, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus easily beats the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus to the SpringBoard by over 10 seconds! It's unclear why this is the case. Perhaps the new hardware (touch Home button, haptic engine, etc) slows down the boot process.

Also interesting is that the iPhone 7 Plus beats the smaller the iPhone 7. This differs from the last two generations where the smaller 4.7-inch version has always been faster than the larger 5.5-inch device. This may be due to the extra RAM in the iPhone 7 Plus. It has 3GB. 1GB more than the iPhone 7.

Yes, this excuse is bull! I haven't had a hissing noise and it only overheats because how ridiculously bright the display is. That's why I dim it as much as possible.

I did the test as well and it's true. I'm thinking is that it's probably using the low power cores instead of the high power cores. I'm sure an iOS update can fix this to use all cores or the high power ones.

This video is pointless. I already know iPhone takes time to boot up. The few seconds later difference makes no difference. I could care less about that.

Doesn't it boot to home if you don't have lock screen enabled?

No. I had a dead battery before and it still manages to boot to lock screen even without any passwords put into it at all.

Is there a way to change the settings so it boots directly to the home screen?

This is a fake video. The iPhone does not boot into the home screen...
