Apple Launches New iPhone 'Trade Up With Installments' Plan

Posted February 18, 2016 at 4:04pm by iClarified
Apple has launched a new iPhone 'Trade Up With Installments' plan that lets users trade in an old iPhone or other smartphone, apply that value to a new iPhone, and pay off the remaining cost of the new iPhone in installments over 24 months. The plan is only available in the U.S. and in Apple Stores, reports CNET.

If you're trading in an iPhone in good working condition, the payments range from about $15 to $35 a month, depending on how many models you jump up to. If you're switching from the iPhone 4 to the 128GB iPhone 6S Plus, for instance, you'll pay $35.37 a month. But if you're moving from an iPhone 5 to an iPhone 6, you'll pay $14.54 a month.

The new program joins Apple's basic trade-in program and iPhone Upgrade Program. The basic trade-in program pays users up to $350 for an older or damaged iPhone. The iPhone Upgrade program lets you get the latest iPhone with AppleCare+ by paying in 24 monthly installments. When a new iPhone comes out you can simply take yours to the Apple Store and trade it in for the new model and restart your monthly payments.

The Trade Up With Installments plan doesn't include AppleCare+ and doesn't let you trade-in for a new phone each year.

iPhone 6S Plus retails at $949 minus $100 credit for an iPhone 4 = $35.37 a month. (per the example) Not $600.

$35.37x24=$848.88 vs the usual $600 for the top model or $400 with the discount for Contract renewal just proves the Organised crime (at least) AT&T and Apple are peddling their customers with just to get more revenue. Shame... really, especially being an AT&T customer for over 20 years and with Apple since the original iPhone (always getting the top-of-the line). Reminds me of a cable company video I saw long ago about how MegaCorps only offer services in select sates never overlapping with each other so in concept the customer that doesn't agree with the prices can choose a different provider, but in reality there are no other providers in that area or state. How can this be legal? Will/Can somebody do something about this?

And again if you'd actually factor in all the extra pricing you used to pay on a subsidized phone plans, which they're not offering 2 year contracts anymore, that's when you were getting ripped off. And by the carrier. So actually the new installment plans are basically straight to the point if you look at it correctly. Apple coming out with the installment program with yearly trade in got the carriers in line when came to pricing and trade in scam contracts.

How about, Who still has the iPhone 4. Probably 10-15% or the nation. So do the math for iPhone 6 users cause they are the ones that get the next iPhone and apparently not the iPhone 4 user that's still stuck in the past.
