ComScore has released its report on key trends in the U.S. smartphone industry for February 2015. Data from MobiLens and Mobile Metrix determined the top fifteen applications by app audience.
Facebook ranked as the top smartphone app, reaching 71.2 percent of the app audience, followed by YouTube (56.4 percent), Google Search (52.2 percent) and Google Play (51.4 percent).

No comments on the effort put into it. Admit - Its still the crap application compared to Google maps and Waze. and no comparison to the number of users using Whatsapp.
That's because the majority of phones sold are still Google based phones, so the default Google apps are more prevalent (especially when also found on iPhones). The key, though, isn't what are the most common apps, but which are used most often. Traditionally, Samsung devices sold more, but they were used less often (access the internet), while iPhones didn't sell as widely, but where heavily used (hence the higher data rates we were charged for it).
