Apple CEO Tim Cook has revealed that he plans to donate all his money to charity, reports Fortune.
To Cook, changing the world always has been higher on Apple’s agenda than making money. He plans to give away all his wealth, after providing for the college education of his 10-year-old nephew. There should be plenty left over to fund philanthropic projects. Cook’s net worth, based on his holdings of Apple stock, is currently about $120 million. He also holds restricted stock worth $665 million if it were to be fully vested. Cook says that he has already begun donating money quietly, but that he plans to take time to develop a systematic approach to philanthropy rather than simply writing checks.
Cook has already been involved in a lot of charity work both personally and at Apple. He donated donated money to help fund a gay rights campaign in Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi. He's worked with Charitybuzz to raise money for RFK Center. He helped Apple raise $20 million in just one quarter for PRODUCT (RED).
Hello Mr.Cook
Mr.Cook I know what you have done is really remarkable and I can say truly remarkable. What you are doing is something I really admire.
I hope God blesses people with such open hearts. I hope some of your charities include pre mature babies also. Our baby is also pre mature and god knows what me and my wife are going through.
Once again keep up the good work and god bless !!
I've always been torn on the issue of corporate philanthropy. On the one hand I find it morally admirable, when it's not blatantly just politically expedient. On the other hand, I think it should be the shareholders that donate their proceeds rather than the company. If I own shares in McDonalds, why is it ok for the company to give away part of my profits, but not for one of their cashiers to give away free Big Macs to people that she things are needy? In any case, better err on the side of generosity than greed, so kudos to Tim and Apple.
I agree with you there. Plus, to add to that, if they have that much money to give away... Why not drip the prices of their products???? Essentially they ate giving away part of MY money and every other apple owners' to a charity we might not deem of the most important or needy. Just sayin,....
I will say something a bit different instead of drop the price why not giving the poor people who making the product a more respective salary to live like normal humans and not like slaves.
