If you've had more than one model of the iPhone, you may have noticed that the speaker volume differs from one to another.

A couple years ago we did a test comparing the speaker volume of the iPhone 2G through iPhone 5. We've received many requests to update the video for Apple's new devices and so we got together all ten iPhone models to do another comparison video.

You'll notice in the new video that we've positioned the decibel meter directly under in front of the speaker which is why the meter's position varies from device to device.

As we expected, the iPhone 6's speaker is definitely the loudest at over 10 dBA louder than the iPhone 2G.

Results:
● iPhone 2G: 94.3 dBA
● iPhone 3G: 98.6 dBA
● iPhone 3GS: 103.6 dBA
● iPhone 4: 92.9 dBA
● iPhone 4S: 101.1 dBA
● iPhone 5: 104.0 dBA
● iPhone 5c: 102.0 dBA
● iPhone 5s: 103.6 dBA
● iPhone 6: 105.4 dBA
● iPhone 6+: 105.0 dBA

I'm more interested in the headphone output. I work as a sound engineer and we often get iphones to play music during the 'intermission' between bands, and with the iphone6 it seems like I always have to crank up the volume compared to all other models...

In Settings, go to Sound then Headphone Safety (Disable). Headphone volume can now be set to full. [I use Android devices for this as they can play 24bit/48, 96k, though iTunes can play Lossless - sound engineer]

My speaker is so loud. At max I have it just over half. I have the iPhone 6

What quality? Bet 6 plus > 6 > 5C > 5S > 5 > 4S > 3GS > 3G > 4 > original iPhone.

Since the phones are standing, aren't the speakers bloked?

No. It's on the edge of every speaker except those where it has the Lightning where it doesn't block even a little.

Now how accurate are those meters, they should mix them up and redo the test to see if they get the same or close to the same results. A real scientist would do it this way

It's probably the same meter used every time. They probably just edited and merged all the different tests together to make it looks like it was done with a different meter.
