Apple's new campus will feature a $161 million auditorium and a $74 million fitness center, according to building permits spotted by BuildZoom.
The auditorium is valued at $160,999,985.00 and BNBT Builders, Inc has been hired to do the work. Once completed Apple will be able to hold its own media events in the theater giving it more control of the experience and security.
The workout facility is valued at $74,163,495 million and may serve as an important employee perk, helping attract talent to the company.
We suppose Apple considers it worthwhile to invest in anything that can make its 41,000 Santa Clara county employees lead better lives–or at least, stay at work longer. And with over $100 billion dollars in cash on its balance sheet, Apple’s probably smart to invest in perks that can attract and retain talent. The competition for engineering talent in Silicon Valley is fierce and more engine and state-of-the-art facilities like this make a genuine difference.
Check out the permits below. For a visual update on Apple's building progress, take a look at the photo posted by the City of Cupertino and this drone video.
