Triple size iPad user interface elements have been found in the iOS 8.1 beta seeded to developers for testing by Hamza Sood.
Some Apple frameworks on iOS 8.1 contain @3x iPad assets. Bring on the Retina HD iPads!
It's been rumored that Apple is planning to release a larger 12.9-inch 'iPad Pro' with a more powerful A8X processor. The device is said to feature larger speaker grilles, a smaller camera lens, and a slightly thinner body.
Another possibility is that the new iPad Air 2 will feature a higher resolution HD display. We should find out at Apple's special event on October 16th.
Sood was also able to find setup screens for Apple Pay in the new firmware.
I sold my iPad for a Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 because of the screen size as I do digital painting. Also the S-Pen by Wacom is better than any pen for the iPad ive tried. If they bring out a 12.9-inch iPad then Ill go back to that - other than that the smaller screen is just not practical for ME.
Thanks. The GNP works perfect. Ive taken the bloatware off though, just have what I need on there and added a 64GB Micro SD card - (96GB total) - enough space for my artwork and designs. Dont get me wrong Ive been using Apple for 13Years and all other devices are ONLY Apple - 2 Macbook pro's, 2 iPads, Apple Server, iPhones etc.... but as a artist - a computer is just another tool.
.... and the only reason I'll go back to an iPad (a bigger one) is because of the syncing ability with all our other Apple devices. I love the flexibility of the Note - I don't have to have iTunes to copy stuff to my Note.
I can't imagine any reason to replace the iPad I already have so I'll skip this year's offering unless they do something like make an iPad that runs OSX. That's about the only thing that would make a new one worthwhile.
iOS 7 was the last thing that forced me replace my previous iPad which would otherwise have served me just fine. Fortunately ios8 had no deleterious effect.
I bought the larger 6 Plus iPhone, but I'll wait and see just how large the new iPad is before committing. I really don't need to carry a poster sized device, no matter the resolution. However, the iPad Air was a great upgrade, so it'll have to be exceptional before I replace it.
Don't the iPads already have high enough resolution so the eye would not be able to detect anything better? I'm sure my eyes would never be able to see any benefit from higher res on a screen less than a meter across.
