Apple will reportedly release iOS 8.1 and launch Apple Pay on October 20th, according to Bank Innovation.
Sources close to Apple have been confirming that Apple Pay would be attached to iOS 8.1 since the September 9 iPhone event held earlier this month. Sources who spoke to Bank Innovation indicated that the public release of iOS 8.1 will be in sometime in October and may have improvements for other Apple services. Previously, 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman reported that iOS 8 will be adding major improvements to the Apple Maps app, which hasn’t been added on to the initial (very buggy) release of iOS 8. We expect that the iOS 8.1 release will be timed to the still-unconfirmed October event held by Apple to announce their new iPad devices, as other websites have previously reported and Bank Innovation has heard rumors about, as well.
Apple seeded the first beta of iOS 8.1 to developers for download and testing on September 29th. Developer Hamza Sood managed to unearth Apple Pay settings and privacy information in the beta release.
We'll let you know as soon as any more information is uncovered. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.
In my country we already use our iPhones to pay with Air Drop, to the stores or to any body that you owe money transfer from one phone to another easy and works perfectly even on Androids.
Let me just say, you're going to find ApplePay *very* cool the first couple of times you use it. Because it really is awesome.
Sadly, until the expectation is that everyone can take NFC, you're still going to have to carry a wallet with real credit cards.
Yeah, that's why they need to make a 4" phone because that's the only reason why I stay with the 5s. 4.7" makes a difference compared to 4 and I really would upgrade if Apple did keep the smaller version, but hey maybe the next generation will be a surprise. Maybe they are saying some things for it.
I think it will be at October 17th becasue T-Mobile two times says about this date and current iOS version on this website: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-15728
So something will happen at 17th this month!
Apple already announced the date that the Apple pay update would be available. They announced it the same day they announced the iPhone. It's Oct. 14th. Rather it will be 8.0.3 or 8.1. Who knows. But the date is the 14th.
I dont think anyone expects things to be perfect, but not to be broken as well. iOS8 is decent but actually bad overall experiences compare to previous iOS launches. I hope they fix the bugs promptly with upcoming 8.1...(sounds familiar?? 8.1... Maybe any OS with number 8 on it is cursed)
iOS 8 indeed has a lot of bugs. I dont remember seing any ios version release like this.
I have iphone6 with ios 8.0.2 and i have bluetooth connection problem in both cars (Audi Q7, BMW 3 Series), calls are not routed to car speakers randomly, BT connection to car is drop for no obvious reason, i have to keep 4G OFF because phone is bouncing from 4G to 3G all the time draining battery and for every bounce i get about 5 seconds of "NO SERVICE", apps are crashing including system apps like calendar and settings, i can not create event in calendar with end time next day, adjusting privacy settings sometimes crashes the app and i can go one like this for quite a long time.
Before i had 5S which work perfectly for about 1 year, since i updated it to 8.0.2 it has all the problems listed above.
I wait for 8.1 release maybe at least i will be able to use 4G.
I haven't experienced any of these problems on the iOS 8.1 Beta. I don't know if iOS 8.1 Beta has fixed these problems for everybody, but they might be. If you can get access to an Apple Developer account, I would suggest trying the beta on a secondary device. I use it on my main phone, the iPhone 5s. I have not experienced any compatibility issues, but I wouldn't suggest using the beta on your main device yet, just in case there is problems with compatibility.
Your fault why did you upgrade 7.1.2 works perfectly why not wait a week and read about all the problems, I bought a new iPhone 6 and I still didn't open the Box I'm still using my 5S waiting for Apple to fix iOS 8 and for a jailbreak to come out then I'll open the box!
iOS 8 is indeed fraught with bugs. If you have any interest in the music side of things you should see the discussion on the iOS musicians list. Don't be putting down people for stating the truth or you just label yourself a fanboy. Apple has made some grotesque mistakes with this update and it needs to correct them quickly if it's not capable of owning up to them. You can be an admirer without being a fanatic. You could be informative without being rude. Or can you?
Bending phone? That's optional unless taken careful seriously. Icloud hack? The hackers were hacked making it safe again. Ios 8 with bugs? Since when after ios 8.0.2? You wish you saw the future and the only thing not good is you downgrading your mind.
Bending? i dont think so, atleast mine doesnt bend. iCloud hack? its not hack, its easy to by-pass security. iOS bug? yesssssssssss. My iPhone 6 plus stops and respring atleast once a day. and landscape mode gets stuck until i close the apps. terribly unstable iOS so far.
The landscape mode works decently for mine as well. Just that when you unlock your phone while in the middle of apps, tilted, it gets stuck in landscape mode sometimes and wont go back to vertical mode until i exit out the app.
