How to Update Your iPhone to the Latest Version of iOS Using Software Update

These are instructions on how to update your iPhone to the latest iOS firmware using Software Update.

Step One
Press to launch Settings from your SpringBoard.

Step Two
Tap General from the Settings menu.

Step Three
Choose Software Update from the General menu.

Step Four
Your device will now check for updates.

Step Five
If an update is found you can tap Download and Install to begin the upgrade process. You should make sure you have sufficient battery power left and are on Wi-Fi before continuing.

Step Six
The firmware update will be downloaded to your device and prepared.

Step Seven
Apple will begin installing the software update unless you tap the Later button to cancel it. You can also tap Install to skip the timer.

Step Eight
Your iPhone will now reboot and begin installing the latest firmware. Once complete you will be returned to your SpringBoard.

This procedure is for any software update, not a particular firmware version.

Mine got stuck too, it just won't come out of it. And I grt sn ertor in itunes. Iphone 5s 32gb.

The same thing happened to me. iPhone 5s 64gb, stuck at Apple log, my power buttom is broken what do I do now.

If you have apple care or your 5S is less than a year old take it to apple and get a new one. The power button being broken is a hardware issue. Same thing happened to my 5.

Just put it in dfu mode and restore.

That was definitely not an option bc I don't do backups frequently (my bad). Anyways after my battery died (11 hours later) I plugged in the charger and it turned on (thanks god lol)

got stuck at apple logo with progress bar after i tried to upgrade... my power button is broken so I can't do a hard reset :) now i have to wait until my battery drains out (it happened when i had 100% battery) so I can use my phone again. YAY

Nope, i wasn't jailbroken. After 11 hours of waiting my battery finally died and after I plugged it in it turned on normally..... 11 hours... At least now I know my battery is working just fine lol
