Santa Ana police are asking for public assistance in finding a suspect after a 15 year old girl died trying to prevent the robbery of her iPhone.

On July 3, 2014, during the mid-day, a 15 year old female victim was walking with her 7 year old sister in the area of 1000 W. Warner. The victim was confronted by the suspect who stole her iPhone. The suspect fled to the suspect vehicle which was waiting nearby. The suspect vehicle was being driven by a 2nd unknown suspect. As the suspect vehicle started to drive away the victim jumped onto the trunk area and held on for a short period of time. Subsequently, the victim fell from the vehicle and was critically injured. On July, 05, 2014, she died from her injuries. The iPhone has been recovered.

The suspect fled in a light gray and/or silver Pontiac. He's described as: male hispanic, late 20’s to early 30’s, 5-8 to 5-10, medium build, wearing a black baseball hat, white tank top, and light colored jeans.

SAPD is seeking any witnesses or persons with information about the incident or the identity of the suspects to contact the Homicide Unit at 714-245-8390 or OC Crime Stoppers 1-855-TIP-OCCS

She probably didn't know but she could have used Find my iPhone, locate the sucker and send the cops after them or delete the phone they wouldn't be able to reactivate it anyway. Poor girl..

To the site administrator: Read the comments here from some of the regular sociopaths and then run an IP or MAC address block if possible. If you cannot block them, please delete the comments as soon as made. We are all very tired of reading their hatred. To the sociopaths: Seek medical help before your condition leads you to long-term residence in a secure facility.

Honestly tho it's too many stupid fcking movies she probably just saw the same movie I saw and thought she could actually hang on. I've literally seen 2 movies in the last few months where they successfully hung on while the car was going insane speeds and doing wild turns all at once.

IF THIS WAS A WEBSITE ABOUT OTHER PHONES I WOULD NOT DARE SAY SOMETHING THAT OFFENSIVE... BUT YOU CARE MORE ABOUT YOUR PHONE THAN HUMAN LIFE THAT'S WHAT YOU PUT
People please just use find my iPhone
People please just use find my iPhone - July 9, 2014 at 5:01am
My MacBook Pro was stolen and I tracked it using find my iPhone and the police went and got it back for me, no real need to put yourself in a dangerous situation, and as long as the device shows up at a location the police have probable cause to search the residence. I really hate someone so young lost their life over a phone. Just report it lost/stolen and your cell company will more than likely give you another one.

I said the same thing. It's easier said than done for some though. You gotta realize that she was only 15. Most young kids around that age can't think as fast or comprehend certain consequences like some adults do. As it said in the video she had broken or lost a few phones before. Like the reporter said, she was probably afraid that if she lost another she would get in trouble. Either way it's sad that it happened this way. Hope they catch these scumbags.
