Check out this new iOS 8 concept from Jay Machalani that lets you expand icons with a pinch-out gesture into widget blocks. The Block can be viewed momentarily then returned to an icon with a pinch-in gesture or you can release it to have the block stay on your SpringBoard.
Android has the Widget, Windows the Live Tile and now iOS the Block. Simply pinch an icon bigger to reveal more information and release to leave it. If you like iOS the way it is, nothing changes. If you want a little more, it's all there.
Machalani has created a video that explains his concept for the iOS Block.
"When you pinch the icon, you will see the transformation/transition into a Block and at that point you have two choices: Either you pinch it back to an icon since you got the information you need or you release your fingers and the icon will remain a Block on your iOS screen. This combination of transforming into a Block either to quickly consult or to change your home screen is critical. You can easily have your next calendar event showing on your Calendar block on your iPhone and you can quickly go through 3-4 apps using a quick pinch and pinch back maneuver on your iPad to quickly consult an app and not end up opening and closing every single one of them."

Jay super awesome stuff, nicely explained and presented, this actually does make a lot of sense and hope you could get it under progress, best of luck.
Just get an android already. Stop waiting for Apple to copy it. They pretty much just see what other people are doing, and see what tweak makes it big in the he jailbreak world and give it to you. They should get heir own GOOD ideas.
you just gave an idea for jailbreak devs I'm sure it will be out soon for us who jail broken our devices and eventually Apple will copy it in a few years.
Okey this may look really wierd but i actually had the same idea and even send this concept to apple the day ios7 was released. I dont know if we had the same idea or you got to know about this some way. I dont how to do a video so i only gave suggestion and explained how it works to them. This is really nice a little different but cool. Thanks for creating it
